A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Judith Schonebaum has embraced an artistic environment of the West Coast, where the light, colors and rhythms of Southern California have become a strong influence on her work.
Her preferred themes are land/sea/desertscapes primarily in pastel, and abstracts primarily in mixed-media of monoprint, acrylic and oil pastel on rice papers.
She has had a wide range of teaching experiences on both the East and West Coasts. She has instructed people of all ages in drawing, painting, crafts, and framing, with emphasis on plein-air pastel drawing retreats in the desert and Mexico.
She received her Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts from the University of Vermont, and, when time permits, continues her studies in art and music.
